   Scope of work.

Our area contains canal-irrigated land. Cotton, wheat, sugar cane and different kinds of vegetables are cultivated here. Most of the people have two to ten acres of land where they cultivate. With the frequent use of fertilizers and pesticides, the lands are becoming polluted. The environmental problems are becoming severed. Because of these factors, the whole ecological system has been affected. The poverty in this area is increasing day by day. The input is to much but the out put is decreasing. Multinational companies to earn the maximum profit are exploiting the people. Some years ago there were such kinds of seeds, which were according to the climate of this area, and they don’t need fertilizers and pesticides. We tried to make the people understand that they must use the old kinds of seeds, which were appropriate for this environment and climate, must be cultivated. We made them cultivate wheat and vegetables experimentally, which gave us the appreciable results. Now this trend in the people is increasing and they have come to know that the profitable crops can be grown without the use of fertilizers and pesticides. The environmental pollution is decreasing accordingly. Sajad Shah, a person, who was used to cultivate the vegetables, told that he had skin diseases since long but when he ate the organic vegetables, he became recovered. We had made 15 people, including three women, to cultivate organic crops. In our target area, we have conveyed the message to hundreds of farmers and women that this process is also possible in this age and a reasonable profit can be earned. The poor men and women, who had no money to purchase the fertilizers and pesticides, are participating in this process now. They are also eliminating their poverty and getting social status. They have become an example for other farmers too. Now they are peacefully protesting against multinational companies for their rights and giving the training to other farmers for organic food. We had difficulties to convince the people because they were in the claws of multinational companies. They had also given up the old way of cultivation and the concerning tools and other necessary things were not easily available so initially they faced difficulties. We made the farmers organizations and made them aware of the disadvantages of frequent use of fertilizers and pesticides and also their effect on environment. We made them aware of the economic losses too. Therefore they became conscious and adopted the advised method of cultivation
